Dear Families,

Last Thursday we had an important parent meeting about the DPS Small School Initiative.

Here are some points that were communicated in the meeting:

  1. 10 schools in the Southwest will be consolidated or combined.
  2. The consolidation is happening because Denver Public Schools is experiencing a drastic decrease in student enrollment.
  3. This is a two year process and It’s important to remember that the schools are being consolidated due to low enrollment and not due to performance.
  4. Godsman won’t experience any change for these 2 years.
  5. We are going to continue serving our students with all our love and commitment.
  6. Consolidated schools will be staffed from the schools that are taking part in the process.
  7. Consolidated schools will open in 2023.
  8. Different members of the community will be invited to be part of the regional working groups. These groups will propose different options to the board using the guidelines for quality programming for students.

That being said :

We wanted to let you know that  We had a last-minute meeting last night about small schools.  The superintendent called leaders into a meeting to let us know that he has placed a pause on the process for small school consolidations across the district at this time.  We currently don’t have any more information about the specifics of what this means but we wanted to make sure you are aware of all the information we have.

We are hoping to have more information in the coming days to give more clarity to what he means when he speaks to pause this process and we will communicate all information as soon as we have it.

We appreciate all of you and wanted to make sure to share this as soon as we knew more about it.

We love you,  GODSMAN! ❤
