Multi-Tiered System of Supports

What is MTSS? 

• MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. MTSS is how our staff works together to support individual student needs. 
• MTSS is different for each student. Students participating in MTSS may be engaging in additional small group lessons or individual interventions with their teacher or an interventionist. 
• The goal of MTSS is to ensure that each student will be receiving the research-based,targeted support that they need. 
• MTSS involves a team of different staff members who work together to problem-solve which strategies or interventions would be most effective for your student to grow academically or behaviorally.  Our MTSS team reviews students’ intervention data to determine if they are making progress. 
• The MTSS team is made up of a variety of staff members including administrators, interventionists, classroom teachers, special education teachers, and special service providers

What can caregivers expect from MTSS? 

• Information regarding academic, social/emotional, or behavioral concerns for your student 
• Instruction and intervention that is matched to your student’s needs
• Feedback on how your student is responding and making progress
• Involvement in individual, data-based problem solving for your student

MTSS is a formalized statewide effort to promote school-wide practices that ensure the highest possible success of all children. The MTSS framework helps school take a proactive and positive approach.

It also encourages schools to provide early intervention services to help prevent academic, social-emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties. This problem-solving process is structured to identify students who struggle with learning or behavior as well as a student who excel beyond their current grade level.
